On a Mission

Jessica was astounded by the artistic talent of her friends, yet very few of them were selling their works.  She thought perhaps they weren’t interested in selling, but found out that wasn’t true at all.

Many of these artists have “rent jobs”.  They had to work forty or fifty hours a week and couldn’t spare the time it takes to work art shows on weekends, or travel to gallery shows.  That hasn’t stopped them from creating.  Artists are artists, even if by day they’re butchers, bakers or candlestick makers.

Mild-mannered HR pay systems manager by day, glorious oil painter by night.  Musical instrument company operations specialist by day, exquisite Japanese fabric printing artist by night.  Critical care pediatric nurse by day, singularly talented ceramic artist by night.

You get the idea.

Created by Jessica Bruce and Christelle Lachapelle, Encounter Artists is a place for working artists to connect with art enthusiasts.

This is the virtual gallery for people to experience new art, for people to find accessible art, and for artists to sell their works.  While other art galleries exist on line today, they tend towards the sprawling and generic.  In contrast, Encounter Artists is intimate and direct.  It’s an art marketplace, and a place to find and commission artists.  It’s the Saturday afternoon art fair, but it's on your desk, or in your hand, available any time you want to immerse yourself in art.
